5 Months

These super cute onesies are a gift from our friend Brooke W, congrats on your new BBB trips!

I can't believe the boys are already 5 months old! They are getting very interactive and giggly. They are FINALLY moving on from their 0-3month clothes to 3+months. The boys are also much better about sleeping at night, they go from 9pm to 7am only waking up once to eat. They seem to be teething, for quite some time now they have been very drooly and chew on their hands with fervor. But no teeth yet!

The doc cleared us to try solids even though they were 6 weeks early but I want to play it safe so I'm waiting till they are at least 6 months. They seem to be the least bit interested in solids so I don't feel like I'm waiting too long. If anything I may wait longer. Everyone these days has food issues, including myself, so I want to be really careful with what I give them and when. They have only had milk with the exception of a lick from a candy cane. I caught Phil in the act and gave him a good tongue lashing, candy of all things!

I've been doing a lot of reading on how to go about it. I'll be keeping a log and introducing new things every few days. These are gonna be our rules to promote good eating habits:
-No candy (till they are at least 3yrs old)
-No soda (that's easy since we don't even go near the stuff)
-No fruit juices until they are 2 and then it will only be a treat
-You can eat all the fruit you want
-You eat what I make or you don't eat at all (Obviously not when they are real little. This one is easier said than done so we'll see how this goes)

What's better than buying organic veggies and making your own baby food you ask? Growing your own veggies! I bought some vegetable seeds and will get those started in my basement using my grow light. I may get more but so far I have zucchini, green beans, yellow beets (the last thing I want to see is red baby poo), cabbage and carrots. I vowed never to grow carrots again after I tried it and they all came out looking like aliens from outer space. But it's such a good baby food that I'll take my chances.

Note to self: don't tickle baby right after he eats.

Wow! I finally get to be the first one to post.

Phil...you should know better!

Who knows what OTHER mischievous things he's been trying to promote.

That's cool you're growing your own veggies :) It'll be so cute to see photos of their first teeth when they come in!

What cute shirts! I love that you're going to be making baby food from your garden. I regret not having made my own food for the girls.

Best wishes on your next carrot attempt. :)

When I was a nanny, I worked for a really healthy eating mom. We would get organic fruits and veggies, puree them and then freeze in ice cube trays. Pop them in a zip lock, and defrost when needed. So much nicer than the baby food that is practically poop colored! Also this mom would freeze bagels and let them gnaw on them for teething, but that introduces wheat a bit early.

Wow! Time flies when you are busy. The boys are looking very much identical. I hope you can tell them apart, I can't! Nice to hear that you are going to raise your own veggies. I gave it up after Dad died. It just wasn't worth all the effort for just me. Next year the boys can help you plant, water, and watch them grow. Keep up the great job and know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Love to you all,
A. Nancy

They look good with their little kitty cat faces ;) I like your food rules, wish we would have held off candy with Brody too...but he has grandparents that spoil him rotten!! Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Your food rules sound like mine...gets harder once they around other people who feel like soda and candy just makes their world better. Soda isn't even a food, it is a chemical concoction. I haven't stuck to them perfectly, but I don't EVER cook to order, kids will not starve themselves, eventually they'll eat what is served. I also hate food coloring! But poor James has been exposed to some awful stuff. Awesome to grow your own veggies, we have room for a garden now, I will have to get tips from you...

Had to laugh heartily when I saw the pic with one of the boys across the laps of the other two. Made me think of the old saying, "He ain't heavy, he's my brother".We will be seeing all of you on Thursday---MaMa Sue

You might want to grow some kind of squash. It's a good baby food. My son was born at 32.5 weeks and we didn't do solids until 7 months. It worked great! He's a big, strong 10 year old now. :)

oh my word cute shots, with kitty shirts! I like your don't list... good luck with that! You're either gonna be the toughest mom yet or cave, we'll see. Keep up the good work! Want me to clean this saturday afternoon or sunday after meeting?

Will those be raw or cooked veggies? Either way your boys will be super healthy. I understand that raw baby food won't make the poo smell.
